The third coin from the new "Hunters by Night" series.  It depicts an image of an python. Both the obverse and the reverse of the coin were covered with obsidian - an efflorescent rock consisting almost exclusively of volcanic glaze! It is formed by the immediate cooling of magma (lava). On the obverse there is an image of the night sky.  The high relief of the reverse makes the phyton appear very realistic.  Pythons are a family of snakes. Traditionally classified as a subfamily of stranglers. Pythons have infrared-sensitive receptors in grooves on the upper lip under the nostrils that allow them to detect heat radiation; this helps them locate nearby prey, especially warm-blooded mammals. Representatives of the family live in Africa, Asia and Australia.
